FATIGUE MANAGEMENT

FATIGUE RISK ASSESSMENTS AND FATIGUE EDUCATION

FOR EMPLOYEES, MANAGERS, & SUPERVISORS

Managing fatigue risk effectively starts with knowledge.

Fatigue Risk Assessments

A Fatigue Risk Assessment, or FRA, identifies primary risk factors that contribute to overall fatigue risk and involves assessments and surveys with a sample population of employees on site.

Examples of risk factors include:
 - Shift patterns and how they impact circadian rhythms
 - How breaks are organized
 - What countermeasures are offered to employees for fatigue mitigation
 - Commute times for employees
 - Hydration and nutrition options during shift
 - Temperatures in workspaces
 - Cursory review of employee health issues for "fit for duty" risks
 - Additional factors related to worker lifestyle

Fatigue Education Services

Fatigue education services are integrated for everyday use while keeping employees fit for duty. Particular employees are appointed as trainers for the broader workforce and are trained to deliver information about fatigue countermeasures. Competency tests are conducted to ensure that employee-trainers are qualified to effectively lead fatigue management efforts in their organization.

Topics include:

  •  - Exercise
  •  - Healthy eating
  •  - How to get a good night's sleep
     - How fatigue impacts an employee's day
